Bzzagent Schick Hydro Silk Razor Review & Giveaway

I received the new Silk Hydro razor from BzzAgent to try and review. I was a little skeptical about a woman’s razor, because embarrassing they just don’t cut it for me. I tend to use a men’s razor either from Gilette or Schick. So I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this and it worked so well.

The Claim:

“Schick Hydro Silk®razor, you go beyond an incredibly close shave to actually care for your skin.” With water-activated moisturizing serum that hydrates skin for up to two hours after shaving. Built for a woman with the 5 curve sensing blades that are irritation free.

The Schick Hydro Silk razor was last year’s most awarded new razor based on Beauty Awards from top magazines such as Cosmo.

What I thought:

Pros:

  • 5 blades — that are sharp and work just as well as a mens razor
  • Body contouring head –to get around all the curves of your body (it got the back of my knees perfectly!)
  • Skin guard– protects against irritation (this was a fist pump moment for me, no redness or itching after shaving)
  • Moisturizing serum — keeps hydration for up to 2 hours
  • Great handle that felt like a shoe gel insert

Cons:

  • The shower holder suction cup doesn’t hold up– but I’ve never really had any of them ever hold up.
  • Best when done in small strokes, it just doesn’t glide or shave as closely when doing long strokes.Would I recommend this? Yes!

I got a close shave that didn’t burn, redden, or cut up my skin. Available easily at all major retailers for the same price or less than your current razor. So give it a try!

I’m giving away 4 coupons for the Schick Hydro Razor so you guys can give it a try. There will be two winners who get 2 $5 off coupons (one for you and a friend).

Holiday Time- Love with Food Box

The Holiday box of Love with Food arrived a few days ago but the holiday preparations have been keeping me busy. I really liked the holiday box, just because there were so many yummy goodies to try. Have a look.

Image

What the box contained:

1) Bag of 479 Sea Salt Caramel

2) Nunes Farms Honey Cinnamon Almonds

3) Nikkis Gingerbread Boy Cookie

4) 4 Taffy Town’s Salt Water Taffy Candy- this is pretty amazing stuff!

5) Big Chocolate Dipper’s Belgin Milk Chocolate Dipped Nutter Butter Cookie (whew that was a mouthful).

6) Kara Chocolates’s Candy Cane Milk Chocolate Truffles- I have to say I loved these, they melt right in your mouth. I would end up comparing the quality of the chocolates to Lindt.

7) Madecasse Chocolate’s 2 mini chocolates

8) Hill’s Brothers Mocha Mint Cappuccino Mix

9) Inserts for Ecomom ($10 credit for first time users), Craft Coffee’s 10% off (code LOVEFOOD), Cloud Mom, and Virgin Wines

I am pretty impressed by this box, it had the box completely filled with great samples. I was considering canceling my subscription after next month to cut down on costs, but now I’m re-considering. This month Love with Food also donated 2 meals for every box to NY & NJ Food Banks for Hurricane Sandy Relief.

Moms: I have two Ecomom credits available from Love with Food that I have no need for. The first two people to reply (subscribed users) can have them!

What do you think of this box? Have any subscription boxes that you love?

Meijer’s Mounted Picture Review — Bzzagent

I was lucky enough to get selected for Bzzagent’s Meijer Mounted Picture campaign. I finally got around to getting it done a few days ago.

Meijer’s photo center has kiosk’s set up where you can bring in your memory card or use your iphone to create your photo projects or prints. It was ridiculously easy and had features to alter your picture by correcting red eye, color contrast, auto lighting, and adding text.

The claim was that it would be ready within a hour, so I had allotted myself that time to get my groceries. The guy at the counter got my order as soon as I put it in, he looked up at me and went “give me 10 mins” I’ll have this ready for me. I was shocked. True to his word, he actually had a MOUNTED PICTURE perfectly ready in less than 10 minutes.

I had my graduation picture with my college roommate mounted because I had never gotten around to it. Take a look:

ImageImageThe second one despite my best tries I couldn’t get the flash to go away (its soo glossy!). The mounted pictures have a silver finish on the side and the back is good to use to hang on the wall or insert and twist in the handle (?) to put on a surface.

While I got to try this for free the regular price for this size is $8.69. I love the cost of this, its better than most online deals you would find.

I’ve been using online shops to print my photo prints, projects, and gifts but I will def. be going to Meijer from now.  They offer a variety of photo projects such as printed photos, mounted pictures, canvas photos, customized photo books, photo calendars, and of course holiday cards.

I love getting photo gifts for almost any holiday, its always such a big hit. Everyone loves to know you put in some thought and got them a personalized gift.

Wakey Wakey- Coffee Lover’s Cravebox

I stalked my mailbox the day this was suppose to arrive, thats how excited I was.

The Coffee Lovers (<3) Cravebox was $12

Image

I was expecting different coffee samples so I was surprised when I received only one coffee bag. Still completely worth it!

These are full sized items, which is way better than receiving small sample sizes. I think its cute how they decided to make it a coffee gift bag of sorts, with the little things one takes with coffee. If I wasn’t greedy I could have used this as a gift that a number of my friends would have loved.

I received:

1 Bag of Tully’s French Roast Coffee

1 Bottle (375 mL) of Sugar Free French Vanilla Torani’s Syrup – We are looking forward to opening this and using it around christmas time with our family. We loved the last bottle we had received with Cravebox which was salted caramel. They also included a $1 off coupon.

Barbara’s High Fiber Cranberry Medley Cereal– This was a single serving with cranberry (as the name suggests) and pomegranates. I already ate this and its pretty dang good, sweet and the right amount of crunch.

2 Biscotti’s from Bakery Brothers 1 in Almond & 1 Cranberry Blueberry Almond

This box beside the coffee (we are still working on our first bag) has already been put into good use. So I personally really like this box. So here’s to dragging myself up in the morning and brewing a nice strong roast so that I am less likely to hurt someone in the early hours of the day. Cheers!

My First Naturebox – Chow Down Time

Image

Yes, I know another subscription box service. BUT my justification (because I always have one) is that its HEALTHY snacks. This is something I would buy anyway when I go shopping so this saves me the ordeal of finding them and buying them. Because let me be honest when I don’t have the healthy snacks available and I’m out or hunggray I will hit that vending machine or scour my house for food/snacks.

This subscription box cost me approx $11 for my first month with the code NAPA40, which offers you 40% off the purchase. The regular retail price for this box is 19.95 a month including shipping. The box I have pictured is the November or December box which I received this morning.

Naturebox:

Each month, your box will include 15 to 20 servings across 4 to 6 different NatureBox snacks. We take pride in picking the healthiest and most delicious snacks for you to enjoy. You can trust that our products will be made from the most wholesome ingredients and will be minimally processed, if at all. Everything you eat from us will abide by our strict quality standards.

These snacks have no high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oils, trans fat, artificial sweeteners, artificial flavor or colors.

The December box contained:

1) Carrot chips        2) Garlic Roasted Pumpkin Seeds     3) Cinnamon Spiced Granola

4) Chipotle Maple Almonds        5) Country Ranch Chickpeas

I have already opened up my ranch chickpeas which I was really surprised that I like since I’m not a fan of ranch.  The almonds I’m half way through the bag which I had to steal away from my mother because she got her hands on them.

**This box was bought with my own money & I was not reimbursed for my post**

November Empties & Skincare Routine

Pizza face, acne girl, dot-to-dot, greaser have all been names that i’ve heard as a teen and in my early twenties. Over the last few years I’ve cleaned up my diet & skin care routine. I’ve probably tried every product on the market to help since I’ve been 13 years old. I finally got it right during my last few years of college.

So I’ve stuck with what works and I buy these in multiples when I do.

I actually ran out of all these within the month, which just screams for a blog post to me 🙂

Facewash: Boscia Clear Complexion Cleanser, I get this at Sephora but many sites and stores have this available. My area constantly runs out of it, I have to call in to set one aside for me, or order online. This smells… well botanical and a tad bit like licorice.

Toner: Body Shop’s Vitamin E Toner, to cleanse out the dirt & any makeup traces I have left. This is a hydrating toner and despite having oily skin this works wonders.

Moisturizer: Body Shop’s Vitamin E with SPF 15. I LOVE THIS! This moisturizer is perfect for the cold Chicago winters without over doing it for my oily skin. The perk being that it has SPF which I am horrible at applying.

Vitamin E is known for its antioxidants properties which can slow the aging process, heal acne and scars, help overall damaged skin, and prevent from further damage.

The moisturizer is ridiculously hard to get, they are currently out of stock in stores and online but expect stock soon. So glad I have one last tube left. Though I have been regularly stalking their website to grab the toner & moisturizer. It is a little pricey at 18.00 for a small tube but they have great deals of buying 2 & 2 free.

As I mentioned I don’t just externally take care of my skin, I internally make sure to keep my body and thus my skin healthy.
1) WATER- Its true, water is your skins best friend. Hydration, hydration, hydration.
2) Skin healthy foods such as avocados, nuts, fruits, plenty of veggies, lentils, & salmon fish. All these foods provide great nutrients & antioxidants to keep not only my skin looking great but my body feeling great as well.
3) Stress reduction- take a breather. I read, blog, exercise or do yoga to unwind for the day. This only takes 10-30 minutes of my day and makes my body, skin, and mind feel and look younger.
4) Sleep, catching some ZzZz’s every night within 2 hours of my normal bed time and getting 7-8 hours EVERY night. Turns out those all nighters for school were a bad idea in more than one way.

It took me years of trials and some wisdom from nursing school to nail into my head that every aspect is important.

Any beauty secrets, tips, or words of wisdom to share? Tell me, I’d love to hear!
